Department of OMF Surgery extends its services over three operating theatres, an Intensive care unit, a 4 bed High dependency unit, a 50 bed ward, a specialists OMF Surgical clinic, 18 chair student clinic, 2 monthly multidisciplinary clinics and a speech therapy clinic. Department of OMF Surgery serves as a tertiary referral centre for the entire country especially for the management of oral cancers, maxillo-facial trauma, congenital facial abnormalities, orthogenetic problems and many other complicated dental, facial, sinus, fore-head & neck disorders. This is the country’s leading centre for cleft lip and palate correction surgeries. A large number of advanced oral and facial cancer patients are referred to this hospital where they undergo various cancer resections and facial reconstructive surgeries ranging from microvascular free flaps, or transferred flaps like Pectoralis major flaps to Primary closures. General surgeries are also performed once a week in the Dental Hospital by the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya.

Division of Anaesthesiology provides clinical services in Anaesthesia, Critical care, Pain Medicine and Resuscitation primarily to the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Faculty of Dental Sciences and also to Surgery and Medicine Departments of the Faculty of Medicine Peradeniya. The division caters for two major operating theatres, a minor operating theatre, a Multi Disciplinary Intensive care unit, a 50 bed ward and a High Dependency unit.

Anaesthesia services for urgent & emergency surgeries and Critical care Unit service are provided 24 hours a day and 365 days a year including all weekends and all public holidays. Our Critical care unit is a multidisciplinary one, open 24 X 365 and receives patients from all corners of the country.
